A metamodel is a modeling framework, which consists of modeling syntax and semantics (the available modeling concepts together with their meaning), i.e. the modeling language, the representation of the concepts (how the concepts are represented in a concrete model, e.g., in a graphical way), and (sometimes) the modeling rules (e.g., the modeling steps), i.e. the guideline for applying the language. Language for constructing models of a certain class.
