Object Identity

http://www.snik.eu/ontology/bb/ObjectIdentity

Object identity comes from object-oriented programming and means that an object has an existence that is independent of its value. Applying this to the representation of entity types in a database leads to the requirement that the representation of every entity must be uniquely identifiable. Condition of an information system where the representation of every entity is uniquely identifiable. In a health information system, this is especially important for patients and cases because all medical data need to be assigned to a particular patient and his or her cases. Patient identification numbers and case identification numbers are used for that purpose. Object identity is an important condition for integrity within HIS. @en
